Allan Barker, OD ‘75, was recently appointed to the Board of Directors of Optometry Cares. Formerly the AOA Foundation, this Board covers all AOA charities including InfantSEE and Vision USA.

Dr. Barker served as president of the North Carolina State Optometric Society in 2009-2010 and authored several articles in Eye Care Business Magazine and Optometric Management over the past two years including, Patient Complaints, Glasses and the Medical Model, Strategies for Large Practices, A Systematic Process for Picking Managed Care Plans and How Much is an Optometry Practice Really Worth.

His wife, Susan Barker, is a 1975 graduate of SCO’s former Optometric Technician Program.
